Janis Lynn Rockhold, long-time resident of North Richland Hills, Texas, went to be with her Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, November 4, 2022 at the age of 75 while at Parkwood HealthCare, Bedford Texas.
Jan was the daughter of the late Vernon Dee “Rocky” Rockhold and Julie Ann (Stewart) Rockhold. She was born on May 1, 1947 in Centralia, Illinois. At the age of eight, she professed her faith in Jesus Christ and joined Antioch Methodist Church in Salem, Illinois. She attended Raccoon Grade School in Centralia; Geoff Elementary and Middle School in Geoff, Illinois; Fairfield High School in Fairfield, Illinois, graduating from Sapulpa High School in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. After moving with her parents to Enid, Oklahoma, Jan continued her education, earning a degree from Autry Technology Center in Enid, OK. She worked in housekeeping at both Bass Baptist Hospital and St. Mary’s Hospital in Enid. She faithfully attended Christ United Methodist Church. After moving to North Richland Hills, Texas, Jan continued her career in housekeeping at DFW Airport until her retirement in 2009. Jan was an active member of First United Methodist Church of Hurst, Texas where she immersed herself in the Christian Homebuilders Sunday School Class. She served the HEB community through the Village Garden by sharing her gardening skills with the Hurst Harvesters, growing produce that is provided to Mission Central for local distribution.
Jan was an avid fisherman and remained active, enjoying bowling, putt-putt golf, and Oklahoma Sooner football. Her lifelong hobby was painting and firing ceramics. She was fully devoted to her extended family, enjoying spending Sundays after church services with her sister Pam and her family. Jan is survived by her two sisters: Dee Ann Bivens of Arlington, VA, Pam (Bob) Cochrane of Bedford, TX; three nephews: Cam (Celeste) Bivens of Murfreesboro, TN, Dave (Amy) Cochrane of Keller, TX, and Jim (Mendi) Cochrane of Ft. Worth, TX; one niece: Nicole (Paul) Collinson of Arlington, VA; and eight grandnieces and three grandnephews.
Homegoing Service will be 10:00 a.m. at Forest Ridge Funeral Home, 8525 Mid Cities Blvd, North Richland Hills, TX 76182 with interment to follow on Friday at Memorial Park Cemetery, 6504 Memorial Drive, Enid, OK 73701
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that a donation in her name be made to the Village Garden, First United Methodist Church, 521 W. Pipeline Rd, P.O. Box 1461, Hurst, TX 76053 to continue the ministry of feeding the community.
