Helen Johnson-Kizer Obituary

Helen R Stroud Johnson Kizer was born on May 28, 1925. God called her home on February 18, 2021. Helen was born in Lubbock Texas, lived in Albuquerque New Mexico before moving to Hurst Texas in 1975. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Hurst and loved the Lord.

Helen loved her family and loved taking care of her great grandchildren as toddlers several times a week. She made friends everywhere she went and was active well into her 90’s. She was an avid gardener and won Hurst yard of the month more than once. She would spend hours decorating inside and out for Christmas for her family and anyone passing by. She was an avid card player with the longest winning streak in the family. Helen was a two-time, 35 year breast cancer survivor, lived through and overcame many life altering and world events. She was an inspiration to her family and many others.

The last few years of her life, she was very well taken care of at the Forum Parkway in Bedford. The family would like to thank Tianna and caregivers Einstein, Timothy and Marcus and special thanks to Good Samaritan Society Hospice especially Shelly, Lisa and Courtney.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents. W A Stroud Sr. and Ollie Mae Farmer Stroud, five brothers, three sisters, first husband Ewell S Johnson Sr., second husband C R “Roy” Kizer Jr., four children and one granddaughter.

She is survived by daughter Shirley Johnson Doyle (Richard), Gary Kizer {Pam}, Brenda Kizer Collins, Diane Kizer Marcum, Jeff Kizer (Kaye), 23 grandchildren, numerous great grand and great great grandchildren , one sister in law, numerous nieces and nephews and honorary family member Wesley Davis.

Burial will be in Albuquerque New Mexico and a celebration of her life to be announced on a later date. For more information, please contact family.

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” 1Corinthians 13:13. Helen left us all with a life time of love and very special memories we will treasure in our hearts always.
