Gerald G. Hollinger (“Jerry”), age 78, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 28, 2022, at the family cabin in Mineral Bluff, Georgia.  Jerry was born March 9, 1944 in Dickinson, North Dakota, to George Hollinger and Elizabeth Bayer.  Jerry was a graduate of Encina High School, received an undergraduate and Masters of Business Administration Degree from the University of Colorado, and received a Master’s Degree in Accounting from Texas A&M University.  Jerry joined the Air Force in 1962, and after a decorated career in finance management and as a Comptroller Director at the Air Force Academy, Jerry retired as a Colonel on May 31, 1994.  After retirement, as a CPA, Jerry worked on taxes for family and friends throughout Texas. Jerry married Olive S. Hollinger on May 1, 1965, in Sacramento, California.  Jerry truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures: chatting/visiting with friends and family; staying connected to his grandchildren; loving time and serenity at the Georgia cabin; and walking his pug Otis (versions 1, 2 and 3).  Jerry always had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way through his quick wit and humor.  Jerry is survived by his wife, Olive; his sons, Jeff and Pat; his daughter-in-law’s Sabrina and Lynn, his grandchildren Christian and Tess; his sisters, Marlene, Kathy, Arlene and Judy; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.  Family, friends, and others whose lives Jerry touched are invited to the Forest Ridge Funeral Home, 8525 Mid Cities Blvd, N. Richland Hills, TX 76182 on August 11, 2022, for visitation and viewing from 4:00 PM through 6:00 PM; and, the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX 75211 on August 12, 2022, for burial service at 11:15 AM.  A Celebration of Jerry’s Life will take place at Pat’s house, 8520 Canyon Crossing, Lantana, TX following the burial service to reminisce, grieve, support each other, and of course, to just catch up and chat.
