George Cox Obituary

With deep sadness we announce the sudden passing of George M. Cox, 78, of Bedford, Texas. George left this Earth and was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on October 2nd.

George was the only child of Dorothy, a local TV personality, and George Cox, a professional baseball player, on October 8, 1944 in Sherman, Texas. He had a lovely childhood with doting parents. George was an excellent student and athlete. He graduated from Sherman High School class of 1963 and went on to study finance and play football at Austin College.

After graduating from Austin College in 1967 with a degree in finance, George spent the next 4 years serving in the United Stated Airforce and was stationed in Charleston, SC.

George met and fell in love with Debby in 1972 and they married September 1, 1973.

George and Debby were deeply devoted to each other, and enjoyed traveling to their favorite destination, Hawaii, yearly. George and Debby were blessed with 50 years of marriage this year and celebrated with a trip to Italy. George loved to travel and was always planning their next trip!

George enjoyed his career in banking, meeting new people, and making business connections. He retired after 30+ years in 2021.

George is survived by his wife Debby, sister in laws Richene and Kimberly, Niece Ashley and Husband Kyle, and their children, Mason, Hudson, Pierson, and Ellyson. Family was everything to George.

A Celebration of Life and Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, October 28th, 11am, at Martin United Methodist Church in Bedford.
