Frank James Imke, 90, retired accounting professor, transitioned peacefully from this earthly life on March 29, 2021. Memorial service will be Thursday, April 8, 2pm at First United Methodist Church, 521 West Pipeline Rd., Hurst, TX. The service will be live-streamed from the church website: www.fumchurst.org
Frank was born in Oklahoma City in 1930 to Joe and Lois Imke, and grew up with two brothers on a farm in Follett, TX. After graduation from Follett High School, he farmed and worked at a regional airport as a licensed pilot and aircraft mechanic. Frank joined the U.S. Air Force in 1952 where he served as an air traffic controller in Korea.
Dr. Imke earned his Master’s Degree in Business Administration from The University of Texas in Austin and a PhD in Accounting from the University of Missouri. He was a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Financial Planner. Frank taught accounting at UT Austin, UT Arlington, Texas Tech University, Southwestern University, and retired from The University of Texas Permian Basin. He authored multiple accounting textbooks, and is remembered for his teaching excellence and steadfast Christian values.
Frank Imke is survived by his wife Susan; two daughters, Sherry Bice (Koan) of Azle, TX and Missy Doggett of North Richland Hills, TX., four grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and sister-in-law Carol Imke of Follett, TX.
