Erlene Rios Duran, a woman of unwavering dedication and boundless love, passed away on August 7, 2024 at the age of 82. She was a cherished mother, devoted sister, loving wife, and proud grandmother. Born on January 13, 1942, in Bridgeport, Texas, Erlene's life was a testament to her commitment to her family.

 

Erlene worked at Lone Star Container in Irving, Texas, for 45 years as a Secretary to the Production Manager and retired in 2014 but continued to work part-time for several more years.

 

Erlene's home was a haven of warmth and laughter, where she taught valuable lessons through her actions and words. Her role as a mother and grandmother was marked by her nurturing care, endless support, and boundless love. She delighted in watching her grandchildren grow, always with a smile and a heart full of pride. Her family was blessed by her love and dedication, sharing life’s joys and challenges. She was a constant source of strength, encouragement, and joy for her family, prioritizing their well-being above all else. Her Grandchildren will remember her for the sacrifices she made, the countless moments of shared happiness, and her deep belief in their potential. She had an extraordinary ability to make each child feel uniquely valued and loved, leaving an indelible mark on their hearts.

 

She was preceded in death by her father, Paulino Rios; her mother, Micaela Casillas Rios; her siblings, Mary Francis Becerra, Mary Helen Medina, and Eduardo Rios; her husband, Elias Duran; her sons, Elias Bernard “Lee” Duran and Richard “Ricky” Duran; and daughter Mary Elizabeth “Lizzy” Vera; and her nephew, Jaime Rivera, Jr.

 

Erlene’s memory will be lovingly preserved by her brother, Paul Rios, Jr. and his wife, Paulita Torres; her sisters, Geneva Hoffman and her husband, Bill Hoffman; Phyllis Rodriguez and her husband, Raul Rodriguez; and Josie Garcia and her husband, Candy Garcia, and sister-in-law Olga Rios.  Her Grandchildren, Vincent Cantu, David Duran, Erikka Duran, Ryan Duran, Leigha Duran, Eric Duran, Danielle Lozano, April Duran, Geno Duran, and Tiffine Martinez.  Her Great Grandchildren Alex, Kylee, Tori, Danica, Edwin, Nikaella, Ayla, Rosita, Sierra, Joe, Manuel, Jelina, Unique, Mariah, Mya, Isaiah, Aubrey, Jose, Naomi, Israel, Michael, Abraham, Noah, Charlie, Lucy, Maci, Mason, Jan, and Grace.  Her Great- Great Grandchildren Anthony, Layla, Bella, Emma, and Nathaniel.  Nieces and nephews: Stuart Rivera, Frank Rivera, Diana Beebe, Margaret Ann Rios, Paul Anthony Rios, John Paul Rios, Debbie Tanksley, Tammy Espinoza, Stephanie Ybarbo, Peter Vasquez, Cynthia Vasquez, Joe Mark Martinez, Yolanda Parsons, Michael Rios, Amanda Rios, Melissa Pacheka, Lori Bedolla and Dennis Benners, Jr.

 

She will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those who knew her. Her legacy will live on through the many lives she touched with her kindness, wisdom, and unwavering support.
