Edwin Hugh Shelar

Edwin Hugh Shelar, 92, of Haslet, passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2020 in Haslet.  He was born June 6, 1928 in New Brighton, PA to the late John Alvin and Alice Kenah Shelar.

Ed was a member of the Hurst Masonic Lodge #1387; was a Shriner and a member of the El Texa Grotto.  He proudly served our country in the United States Navy.  Ed enjoyed hunting, fishing and shooting skeet.  He began his career with Bell Helicopter in 1964 and retired in 1992.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew him and loved him.

He is survived by his children, Charles William Shelar, III, Susan Gayle Sourjohn, Edwin H. Shelar, Jr., and Mickey McCune.  He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary; his parents; also, by 2 brothers and 3 sisters.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 12:30 p.m. Monday, October 19, 2020 at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park, Colleyville.
