Dorothy Lynette Nichols Obituary
Dorothy Lynette Nichols passed away Thursday, October 10, 2024. Dorothy was born on January 23, 1944 in Athens, Texas to Alvis and Mary Butler. She married the love of her life, Bobby Don Nichols, on January 20, 1961, in Dallas. They moved to Euless in 1965, lived and raised a family there for over 42 years, then moved to Bedford in 2008. The only thing that could have ever separated Bobby and Dorothy occurred on August 3, 2023 when he preceded her in leaving this earthly home to be with the Lord in heaven. They have been made whole once again and reunited in Glory. Dorothy and Bobby have two children, Danee’ and Scott. Her priority was always with her family. She loved them immensely and poured her heart into them every day. She was so proud to be called a loving Wife, Mother, Momma, and Aunt Dot, but maybe her most cherished title was the one she earned for the first time in 1990, the name of Mimi. Dorothy was a Christian and a member of First Baptist Church of Euless (currently Cross City Church) for many years. Dorothy and Bobby loved being members of Dr. Bell’s Sunday School class and also loved serving in the preschool department. Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Bobby; parents Alvis and Mary Butler; sisters Melva Holland and Gladys Butler; and nephew Gary Holland. She is survived by her daughter Danee’ and son-in-law Eric Owens; son Scott Nichols and daughter-in-law Kim Denney; grandchildren Nicole Nichols, Shelby Nichols, Katie and her husband Michael Squires, Grayson and his wife Lexi Owens; great-grandchildren Collin Boutwell, Rosalie and DeLaney Owens, Ryan Squires, and Tucker Nichols; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends for visitation at Forest Ridge Funeral Home on Thursday, October 17, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The Funeral service will be held on Friday, October 18, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Cross City Church First Euless. Interment will conclude at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park in Colleyville, Texas. In lieu of flowers, please send any donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
