Donna Dee Phillips (Leisy), age 80, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2025, in Fort Worth, Texas.  

Born on July 31, 1944, in Massillon, Ohio, Donna was the daughter of Donald and Martha Leisy. From an early age, she developed a deep love for aviation, inspired by countless hours spent flying alongside her father, a commercial DC-3 pilot. This passion for aircraft remained with her throughout her life and became one of her most cherished interests.

Donna built a successful career as an executive administrative assistant at Verizon, where she dedicated over two decades of service. Her professionalism and commitment left a lasting impression on colleagues and associates alike.

She was a devoted mother to Amy (Dave) Cochrane, Lori Phillips, Rick Kamerer, Phil (Ronda) Kamerer, and Ken (Susan) Kamerer. Her love extended to her grandchildren—Caitlin Kamerer; Jack (Anna) Kamerer; Mark (Jessie) Kamerer; Courtney Kamerer; Kyle Kamerer; Carson Cochrane; Carter Cochrane; and Riley CdeBaca—each of whom brought immense joy to her life. She also held close bonds with her brother Doug (Sue) Leisy; niece Catherine Leisy; nephew Greg Leisy; and remembered fondly her late brother Kirk Leisy.

Donna’s heart was always open to those around her. Her many dear friends and cousins were each special to her and enriched her life in countless ways.

A woman of faith, Donna attended First United Methodist Church of Hurst. Her spiritual community provided comfort and connection throughout the years.

In addition to her love for aviation history and air shows, Donna was an avid reader of military aircraft literature and a proud supporter of multiple Veteran's organizations. Seeing a restored warbird take flight never failed to bring a smile to her face—a testament to the enduring wonder she found in the skies.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 15, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Forest Ridge Funeral Home, located at 8525 Mid Cities Blvd., North Richland Hills, Texas 76182.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Commemorative Air Force (Tax ID #74-1484491), honoring Donna’s lifelong admiration for aviation and veterans.
