Donald "Randy" West

D.R. West died at his home on August 5, 2023. He was a masterful storyteller who loved to entertain family and friends with stories of his childhood and military career. He was a native Texan born to R.I. and Jackie West of Arp, Texas and grew up in Sheridan, Texas. Following graduation, he attended Texas A&M and graduate school at Babson Institute. He began a 20 year career serving the US Army as a helicopter pilot. He was assigned to numerous posts throughout the US and Europe. He served 2 tours in Viet Nam then retired from the Army in 1978. He was decorated Viet Nam veteran and proud to have served his country.

Later he worked in the aircraft industry and for Tarrant County until he retired again.

Randy married Laura Bianco West in 1958. They were married 65 years and had 3 sons. Among his many interests he was an avid outdoorsman, craftsman and enjoyed country music. Randy and his family enjoyed regular vacations to their cabin in Wyoming. 

He is preceded in death by his parents and his son David. He is survived by his wife Laura, sons Mike (Sheree), Patrick (Kristi), daughter in law Karen Womack (Tim) Seven grandchildren, their spouses and 14 great grand children, sister Betty Osenbaugh (Jack).
