Denise Batdorf Obituary

Born November 4, 1958, in Anderson, South Carolina, Denise Yon Batdorf was the youngest of two daughters. Denise was raised in South Carolina then moved to Atlanta, Georgia when she met her husband, Joseph Michael Batdorf. Denise and Joseph married on April 25, 1987 and became parents to their three children, Mary Ashton, Melissa Ann, and Michael Charlton. In 2003, she and her family moved to Keller, Texas for Joseph’s job with Lockheed Martin. On February 26, 2022, Denise lost her 2.5 year battle with cancer as she was surrounded by her husband and children, and she drifted into the arms of God.

Denise was a kind, dedicated and caring wife, mother, daughter, sister and colleague, and always put her family first. She was committed to raising her children and teaching them about all aspects of life. She provided them with all the avenues they would need to be strong and successful people in this world. Denise was extremely proud of her children and the challenges they accepted to get to where they are now. She enjoyed facing their challenges with them and finding a solution to those challenges. She was elated to travel to her children’s homes to complete house projects and check up on the progress made from the last project. Her love of real estate, design, and decorating has been passed down to her children. Her dedication in raising her children was instrumental in their achievements.

Denise enjoyed the little things in life. She loved shopping with her daughters and grabbing a treat while they were out together. Oftentimes, this included a vanilla steamer or a peanut butter cup from the gas station, or even a vanilla snow cone in the middle of those Texas summers. Denise loved watching her children’s baseball games and swim meets, and she never missed an event. Her continuous support was demonstrated for any school event, sports event, and life event.

Denise is survived by her husband of nearly 35 years, Joseph Michael Batdorf; daughter, Mary Ashton Wolbert; daughter, Melissa Ann Batdorf; son, Michael Charlton Batdorf; mother, Mary Worley Richter; and sister, Teresa Yon Bryant.

Her family would like to thank Texas Oncology and Baylor Scott & White in Grapevine for their continuous support and care during her many stays and being Denise’s advocate throughout her battle. Denise needed special care, and her team was always researching new treatments to create a very customized plan of care.

A rosary service is scheduled for 10:00 AM on March 18, 2022 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton Catholic Church in Keller, Texas. A funeral mass will follow at 10:30 AM, with a gathering thereafter. Please join us to celebrate Denise’s life. She is missed terribly already, but her memory will live on through her family.

In lieu of flowers due to Lent, donations may be made in Denise’s memory to a charity of donor’s choice or to the American Cancer Society at https://www.cancer.org/involved/donate.html
