Deffie Lee Sibley Obituary
Deffie Lee Sibley
August 8, 1928 – September 28, 2026
Deffie Lee Sibley, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, entered her Heavenly Home on September 28, 2026, at the age of 98.
Deffie was born on August 8, 1928, in the small East Texas town of Apple Springs to Lothard and Willie Davidson. She was one of eight children, growing up in a close-knit family of four sisters and four brothers. From an early age, Deffie developed a warm and outgoing personality that would remain a defining part of who she was throughout her life.
During her high school years, Deffie enjoyed playing volleyball. Following graduation, she moved to Houston to attend cosmetology school. After earning her cosmetology license, she worked in several salons throughout the Houston area. It was during her time in Houston that she met the man who would become her husband, Homer Sibley.
After their marriage, Deffie and Homer began building their life together. They welcomed their first two children, Cynthia and Glenn, and later moved to Handley and then to Hurst, Texas, where Homer became an employee of Bell Helicopter. Their family eventually grew with the arrival of their third child, Roderick.
Deffie became an active and devoted member of First Baptist Church of Hurst. She participated in the Women’s Missionary Union (WMU), taught fourth-grade girls in Sunday School, and faithfully served during Vacation Bible School each year. She had a special gift for telling Bible stories, and her expressive voice and natural storytelling ability captivated the children she taught. Her faith and her love for children were evident in the time and heart she devoted to them.
Following the untimely death of her husband, Deffie found herself raising two teenagers and a grade-school child. She embraced the enormous responsibility of becoming both mother and father to her children. Though the road was not always easy, Deffie remained strong, determined, and devoted to her family.
In the 1970s, Deffie entered the workforce and held several positions throughout the years. One of the jobs she enjoyed most was working in security at DFW Airport. She loved meeting people and had the opportunity to encounter famous individuals from time to time. Her outgoing personality, easy smile, and genuine interest in others made each day an opportunity to connect with someone new.
Later, Deffie became the night dispatcher for Mary Kay Cosmetics, a position she truly enjoyed. She especially appreciated the opportunity to speak with Mary Kay from time to time and to provide security for her and her home. Although driving home around midnight could be challenging, Deffie considered the job well worth it. When she finally reached retirement age, she wasted no time—she promptly turned in her notice and embraced retirement.
Above all, Deffie cherished her family. Her home was a place where memories were made and traditions were treasured. She loved hosting Easter egg hunts in her enormous backyard, preparing Thanksgiving meals where her turkey and dressing were always a favorite, and celebrating Christmas surrounded by the people she loved. Family gatherings brought her great joy, and she took pride in creating a home where generations could come together.
Deffie will be remembered for her strength, her faith, her warm smile, her outgoing spirit, and, most of all, her unwavering love for her family. The memories she created and the love she shared will continue to live on through the generations who were blessed to know her.
Deffie was preceded in death by her parents, Lothard and Willie Davidson; her sister, Leola Wells; her brothers, Olan Davidson, Junior Davidson, and Buel Davidson; and her grandson, Derick Sibley.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Cynthia and her husband, Richard Albin; her son, Glenn; and her son, Roderick and his wife, Sheri. She is also survived by her grandsons, Dennis and his wife, Tammie; Darren and his wife, Wendy; and Christopher and his wife, Laura; great-granddaughters, Lauren Sibley, Kirsten Roberts, and Samantha Sibley; and great-great-granddaughters, Maggie, Chloe, and soon-to-be Hailey.
She is also survived by her sisters, Barbara Clark and Wanda Rhoden, her brother, Pat Davidson, and numerous nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
Though her earthly journey has come to an end, Deffie’s love, faith, laughter, and cherished memories will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
She has entered her Heavenly Home, but her legacy of love will live on through the generations.
