Debra Lynn Neighbors was born on October 24, 1956, in Miami, Oklahoma. She walked into the arms of Jesus on Saturday morning, January 15, 2022.
Debbie graduated in 1974 from Choctaw High School in Choctaw, Oklahoma where she was very active in both the band and the choir programs.
After graduation she worked for the State of Oklahoma for several years and then began a career working as a coder in Medical Records for a number of Oklahoma City hospitals including OU Medical Center, Saint Anthony’s Hospital, Mercy Hospital and McBride Orthopedic Hospital.
Debbie was a warm, caring person. She was a very loyal friend and held those relationships closely. She had a terrific sense of humor; was quick witted and intelligent. Debra was especially fond of God’s furry little creatures. There were always at least two in her house.
Family was very important to her. Debbie treasured her family, both present and past. She enjoyed learning about her family’s geneology. She documented lots of information in ancestry.com and did her best to fill in every blank. She loved meeting new distant cousins as she found them online in her ancestry search. Debbie also took very seriously the importance of keeping up with her family, especially the eleven 1st cousins and their families. She often called and sang “Happy Birthday” to them on those special days and worked to stay connected with all of them.
Most importantly, as a teenager Debra made the choice to take Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She believed that God had paid the price for her and she chose to live a life as His child. She believed God’s Word when it reads in John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son that whoever believes in Him will never die but have everlasting life.” As believers, we know that Debra has left this life of pain, disability and limitation. Instead she is already in the presence of the Lord Jesus and experiencing all His GLORY, LIFE AND LIGHT.
Debra was preceded in death by her brother, David Edwin, father, Donald Edwin and mother, Nancy Neighbors. She is survived by her sister, Patricia, her uncle, Lester Ward and Diane Ward, her aunt, Helen Stand, a host of cousins and dear friends and her two cats, Blaze and Anastasia.
