David Neal Northrup, 75, of Bedford, Texas, passed away peacefully at Harris Methodist Hospital in the early hours of April 9, 2026.

Born on October 18, 1950, in Colby, Kansas. A high school star athlete with talent in football, basketball, and track fields. He attended Hutchison College, where he continued his career in basketball, and then he pursued his athletic career at Bethel College, where he was inducted into the hall of fame within the college. He held a position at Saint Rita Church, where he was called to serve with a joyful heart, but for most of his life, he worked in construction.

He was a proud father and a devoted grandfather, lovingly known as “Papa.” As his family’s biggest fan and most loyal supporter, he was always present. Whether cheering from the sidelines or offering encouragement over the phone. His love for others was constant and unwavering, and he had a way of making everyone feel like they were his number one priority. Despite his imposing stature, Dave was known most for his kindness, compassion, and steadfast support. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Viola Greene Northrup and Bud Lavon Northrup, and his brother, Duwayne Northrup.

He is survived by his beloved children, Paul Andrew Northrup, Christopher Anthony Northrup, and his wife, April, and Renee Angela Northrup and Nicholas Moss. He leaves behind six grandchildren: Elijah David Mawlawi, Emily Alyssa Mawlawi, Destiny Jean Dodson, Eliana Danielle Mawlawi, Riley Anne Northrup, and Christopher “CJ” Northrup. He leaves behind nieces and nephews, Malinda Ann Northrup and her family, Jocelyn, Emalia, and Cory, Reagan Alexander Northrup, and Cori Rea Ferguson and her family, Arabella.

His Memorial Service will be held on April 13, 2026 three O’clock at Grace Community Fellowship Hurst, 7650 Precinct Line Rd, Hurst, TX 76054.
