David Moon Obituary

David Moon passed away Friday, August 27, 2021 in Bedford.  He was born in Sylacauga, Alabama.  He graduated from Winterboro High School, and then was the first in his family to complete a higher education degree getting a BS in Biology from Jacksonville State University. While playing ping pong at the BSU, David met the love of his life, Sue, and the two were married for 56 years.

David was the always proud father of two children, and proud grandfather to 5 young ladies.  He spent most of his professional life in insurance sales and management.  To describe David as involved would be an understatement.  He was involved in Free Masonry, Gideons, Optimist Club, Rotary International, School Board President, and Deacon in his Church. He loved making people feel special and that led him to start Santa USA, a non-profit organization that sent a cast of Christmas characters via helicopter to schools, nursing homes, and hospitals in the DFW metroplex to spread a little cheer at Christmas time.

David was a lover of good food and a good adventure, never a stranger to a good joke, and always wish he had a big fish on the line.

David is survived by his wife, Sue; children, Kristn (Brian), Elliott (Cori); and granddaughters, Peyton, Reese, Sophie, Lilli, and Ruby.  And his Brazilian family, Julio, Maria, Priscilla, Fred, and Benjamin.
