Born in Chicago, Illinois, to John and Joanna (Petruska) Svoboda, Chuck was raised in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, where he graduated from Assumption High School in 1968.

Chuck proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1970 to 1978, during which time he was stationed in Thailand as a dog handler during the Vietnam War. His military service was a source of great pride, and his loyalty to his country never wavered.

In 1973, Chuck married Sherlene "Chris" Bowling, and together they raised two children, Jenifer and David. Chuck's dedication to his family was evident in everything he did, and his love for them was boundless. In 1998, he married Barbara, and with her, he embraced two more daughters, Lisa and Lana, whom he loved as his own.

Chuck had a distinguished career with US Customs, working as a federal inspector for 35 years. Known for his unwavering integrity and strong work ethic, Chuck earned the respect of those around him and was admired for his honesty and dedication to his work.

Outside of work, Chuck was a man of simple pleasures. He had a deep love for dogs and spent countless hours tending to his beloved garden. He was a loyal friend, a loving father, and a proud grandfather, always showing his family the importance of hard work, love, and loyalty.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, John Svoboda and Joanna Lloyd, his stepfather Robert Lloyd, his beloved wife Chris Svoboda, and his brother-in-law Jake Jacobsen.

He is survived by his wife Barbara (Hembey) Svoboda; sister Carol Jacobsen; children, Jenifer Curlis (Jared), David Svoboda (Sarah), Lisa Barnes, and Lana Hahn (Jeff); his grandchildren, Chelsea Brashear, Jacob Barnes, Cody Hahn, Katelynn Allen, Cooper Svoboda, and Hudson Svoboda; as well as multiple great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of friends who will forever remember him with love.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff and residents of Colonial Oaks in Arlington, Texas for loving him so well in the final year of his life.

Chuck's legacy of loyalty, integrity, and love for his family will continue to live on in all who knew him. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will forever remain in our hearts.
