Carolyn Jean Thomas Lynch, of Hurst Texas, passed away on November 27, 2023, at her home in Odessa, Texas. She was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on April 23, 1934. She was the daughter of Elvin Weston Thomas and Gena Withrow Thomas; Granddaughter of C.M. and Mary Jane Thomas of Jones, OK and William T. and Margaret Eunice Withrow of Dallas, Texas.
Carolyn was an accomplished musician and teacher. She taught Sunday School and children’s choirs for years, supplied as organist at numerous churches, played many weddings and funerals and taught voice, piano and organ in her home for close to 50 years.
Over the years, she accompanied and coached many students in several school districts, performed opera, and sang and volunteered for several local organizations. Among these organizations were the Dallas Symphony Chorus, the Irving Choral, Brookhaven Choral Society, Ft. Worth Opera, Hot Springs Music Festival, and Santa USA.
Carolyn is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert V. (Bob) Lynch. She is survived by two daughters: Karen Michele Barger and her husband Jim, and Gena Kaye Robbins; one son: Dr. R. Kevin Lynch and his wife Earlene; 7 grandchildren: Jimmy Barger (Miriam), Elena Johnson (Zane), Kassi Burleson (Jake), Jordan Lynch, Trey Robbins (Micah), Carolyn Robbins, and Annessa Robbins; 7 great grandchildren: Audree, Ava, Asher, and Milli Burleson, Jack and David Barger, Elliott Robbins; and a host of friends and extended family.
Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, January 6, 2024
