Carlton Baker Obituary

Carlton Ray Baker was born April 18, 1956 to Bobby and Christine Baker in San Angelo, Texas.  He began a career after college in telecommunications that spanned 40 years in which he worked for GTE, Verizon and Charter Communications.   The friendships and people he worked with throughout those years were of the utmost importance to Carlton and he considered them his work family.  In addition to his job experience, Carlton served on the Board of Directors of Qualtrust Federal Credit Union for over 20 years and was a member of Crown of Life Lutheran Church.

Carlton loved meeting people and never met a stranger.  He enjoyed rock music and especially concerts with his nephews.  Cars, motorcycles and boating were lifelong passions and he spent many hours on the road and lake with his family and friends.

Carlton had tremendous love for his family and was a great husband, father and Papa.  His girls were everything to him.  Throughout his health struggles he persevered by leaning on his faith in Christ Jesus and was greatly encouraged by the love and prayers of so many people – even strangers.  He is survived by his wife Lisa, daughter Caroline Anderson and husband Justus; daughter Chandler Baker; granddaughters Claire and Lily; treasured extended family members: Steve and Marie Hohmann, Debra and Rick Childress, Daniel and Kim Hohmann , Wade and Laura Hohmann, Lacey and Ben Melancon, Christina and Jim Hotchkin, Jamie and Leon Lewis, Caitlin and Jonathan Kaylor and many beloved great nieces and nephews.

A memorial service for Carlton will be held on Saturday, March 5th at Crown of Life Lutheran Church, 6605 Pleasant Run Road, Colleyville, Texas.  A pre-service visitation will begin in the gymnasium at 1 pm – memorial service will begin at 2.

If you so choose, the family requests memorials to Crown of Life Lutheran Church or Cook Children’s Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas in lieu of flowers.
