Carl "Danny" Bogart Obituary

Carl “Danny” Bogart of Fort Worth, Texas, passed away on February 4, 2026, in Fort Worth at the age of 87.

Carl “Danny” was born on May 24, 1938, in Fort Worth, Texas, to William Thomas Bogart and Carlie Aurelia Brown Bogart Wilson. When Carl “Danny” was just 15 years old, his father passed away. During that difficult time, he left high school and began working at a shoe store to help support himself. Two of his coworkers recognized his potential and encouraged him to return to school. Inspired by their belief in him, Carl “Danny” went back to finish high school and continued his education.

He went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1961 and later received a Master of Science from Case Western Reserve University in 1964. Carl “Danny” married the love of his life, Barbara Elder, on September 30, 1961, in Fort Worth, Texas. He often said that marrying Barbara was the beginning of his amazing life.

Carl “Danny” began his professional career with NASA, where he worked from 1961 to 1965. In 1968 he joined IBM, where he spent the majority of his career. During his tenure, the program transitioned through Loral and later Lockheed Martin. Over his 32-year career, Carl “Danny” worked on highly specialized programming projects, including work related to submarines in Manassas, Virginia. In 1990 he moved to Houston, Texas, to work on the Space Station program, and in 1992 he relocated to England for his work. Carl “Danny” greatly enjoyed the work he did and the opportunities it gave him to travel and contribute to groundbreaking technology. He retired from Lockheed Martin in 2000 and returned home to Fort Worth.

Throughout their marriage, Carl “Danny” and Barbara traveled extensively around the world together, creating many cherished memories. Barbara passed away in 2008 after 48 years of marriage.

At the age of 70, Carl “Danny” embraced a new chapter in life when he met Mary Jacob online in 2011. The two became constant companions and shared many happy years together until his passing.

Carl “Danny” had a lifelong passion for flying model airplanes, particularly free-flight gliders and power models. He was an active member of the National Free Flight Society and the Academy of Model Aeronautics. One of his most cherished memories was traveling to China to compete in a model airplane event. He performed well and often reflected on this trip.

Carl “Danny” was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara Bogart; his father, William Thomas Bogart; his mother, Carlie A. Wilson; and his brother, Floyd J. Wilson.

He is survived by his sons, Tom Bogart and wife Mary, Jeff Bogart, and Bob Bogart; his sisters, Ann Wilson, Billie Bogart, Melody Tucker and husband David, and Demmie Davis and husband Paul, Betty Bogart; and his brothers, Steve Wilson and John Richards; and cousin David Hargrave and wife Cookie. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Elizabeth Bogart and Amber Bogart; along with numerous nieces and nephews; and his special companion, Mary Jacob.

Carl “Danny” will be remembered for his intelligence, dedication, quiet strength, and loyalty to those he loved. He will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.
