Bounky Souvannavong Obituary
Bounky Souvannavong, age 99, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2025, in Fort Worth, Texas. Born on May 10, 1926, in Khammouane, Laos, Bounky lived a long and vibrant life marked by dedication to family, service to others, and an enduring zest for life.
Bounky pursued higher education at Manila University in the Philippines, where he earned a master’s degree in medicine. His academic achievements laid the foundation for a meaningful career in healthcare. He went on to serve as a hospital administrator in Vientiane, Laos, where his leadership and commitment made a lasting impact on the medical community.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Bounky was known for his warm heart and spirited personality. Described by those who knew him as lighthearted, energetic, friendly, loving, and caring, he brought joy and laughter wherever he went. His love for life was evident in everything he did—from tending to his garden and enjoying the outdoors to cheering on boxing and wrestling matches. He also found great enjoyment in visiting casinos and spending quality time with his family.
Family was at the center of Bounky’s world. He was a devoted husband to his late wife Viengthong and a proud father to six children: daughter Sarah James and her husband Isaac; son Chansamone and his wife Nora; son Khonesavanh and his wife Khampheng; daughter Valerie Nuth and her husband Rak Nuth; son Phanpasong and his wife Nolita; son in law Chanpheng and daughter Kongsavanh Phanid, who preceded him in death. His legacy continues through his nine cherished grandchildren—Katerine, Michael, Hunter, Britney, Sabrina, Caitlin, Skylar, Ryan, and Olivia—and three beloved great-grandchildren: Oliver, Luna, and Brave.
He was also preceded in death by his parents Oudai and Khampheng. Though they are no longer with us, their memory lives on through the values they instilled in Bounky—a deep sense of compassion, resilience, and love for family.
A man of many passions and boundless energy even into his later years, Bounky's presence and smile lit up every room he entered. Whether sharing stories from his youth or simply enjoying a quiet moment surrounded by loved ones under the open sky he so adored, he lived each day with gratitude and grace.
May the memory of Bounky Souvannavong bring comfort to all who knew him. His legacy of love will continue to inspire generations to come.
