Billy Don Lynch, 82, of Bedford, Texas, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 3rd, 2023 surrounded by his loving family.
Billy was born on July 28, 1941 to William and Lucille Lynch. His parents raised him in Oglesby, Texas, where he attended school and began some lifelong friendships. Billy graduated as an honor student from Oglesby High School. Billy excelled in sports and was a great athlete. He loved all sports and played in all of them.
After high school, he started his career with Santa Fe Railroad. The railroad was his career for 42 years until his retirement in 2001. He began his railroad career working in McGregor and then Temple, Ft. Worth, Amarillo, Topeka, Kansas and finally settling in Bedford.
Billy married Betty Thompson and they were blessed with two sons, Todd and Kevin.
Then, on July 25th, 1987 he married his devoted wife, Pamela Hardin Barnhart in Amarillo, Texas. They were happily married for 36 wonderful years.
Billy shared his love for the outdoors and hunting with his sons and longtime friends. He enjoyed spending frequent long weekends, during hunting season, at his deer lease with his boys and other dear friends.
Billy never missed a Cowboys game and cheered on all local teams including the Texas Rangers.
After his retirement, Billy & Pam began volunteering for the Bedford Police Department. Billy found his real passion when he became the School Crossing Guard for Bedford Heights Elementary School. There, he served on the same corner at McLain and Cummings for 18 years! Billy love all the kids and they loved him too.
Billy is survived by his wife, Pamela Lynch of Bedford, Texas, his son, Billy Todd Lynch and wife, D'Ann, son Kevin Lynch and wife, Melissa, son Jeffrey Barnhart and wife, Marci, daughter Susan Miller, son Michael Barnhart and wife, Rebecca, his brother Kermit Lynch and sister-in-law Marilyn of Oglesby, Texas. 11 grandchildren and 4 great Grandchildren and their precious Poco.
A Memorial Service for Billy Don Lynch will be held on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at 2pm.
