Billy Lee Moon Obituary

Billy Lee Moon was born May 3, 1934. He left this earthly life April 27, 2025, six days before his 91st birthday.

There is so much to say about a man who didn't say a lot. Billy met Marian Sue Davis on a blind date and from that moment on, they never parted. We are sure Marian met Billy at the gates of Heaven with roller skates in hand. They were married for 59 years. Billy proudly served in the United States Army, and he and Marian loved to travel. They made their home in Hurst, and raised four children before becoming Grandaddy and Grandmommy to 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, who were the joys of their lives. Our family never had a Summer time get-together without having his famous "Billy Moon Hot Dogs and Hamburgers." (Made with Lawry's Seasoning Salt, Worcerstershire sauce, KC Masterpiece BBQ sauce, salt & pepper.) He officially retired from Oliver Technologies in 2015, but returned to work part time at United RV Center before enjoying yet another retirement. In his quiet way, Billy always made a huge difference. He did not need awards or recognition, he was just being "Billy Moon Nice." This was a phrase coined by our family years ago, and is only attainable by being a man who shows up, helps out, and imparts wisdom without judgment. That is what he did. We will miss his quick wit and sense of humor, his no nonsense advice, and most of all, his quiet presence.

Billy was preceded in death by his loving wife, Marian; parents, David and Izora, sister, Evelyn Crank and her husband Claude, and sister in law Beth Moon;

He is survived by his brothers, Johnny Moon (Anise) and Jimmy Moon; children, Rusty, Scotty, Bryan (Tammy), Kayla Saylor (Gerald); grandchildren, Amy Moon, Emily Odom (Alex), Kyle Saylor, Katie Frost (Brett), Alyssa Woolaver (Tanner), Cody Moon, and Zoe Moon; great grandchildren, Rylan Saylor, Jaxon Woolaver, Adeline and Charlotte Odom, Kinsley and Allie Frost, and Lucas Moon, along with many nieces and nephews who loved him.
