Barbara Pijot Schmidt

Barbara Pijot Schmidt passed away peacefully on September 26, 2023.  She was born March 13, 1952 in Memphis, Tennessee.  After graduation from the University of Florida, Barbara began her career in advertising holding positions in Tampa, Atlanta and Dallas.  In 1993, with the help of her husband Robert Schmidt, she became a State Farm Agent and agency owner at Barbara Schmidt State Farm Agency, a position she proudly held for 30+ years.

She had a passion for travel and her family cruises to Mexico and river and ocean cruises to Europe were highlights in her life.  Barbara had versatile creative talents.  She was a published author, clothes designer and artist.  She loved current events and relished a good political discussion.

Barbara is predeceased by her mother, Betty Pijot, and father, Joseph Pijot.  She is survived by her husband, Robert Schmidt, her sister, Jo Lynn Durrance (Val), her brother, David Pijot (Sandy), her daughters, Marly Natherson, Christie Lay (Shawn), and Meredith Griffin (John), and grandchildren, Mason Cromer, Cate Lay, Emily Griffin and Bella Lay, and her beloved dog, Harry. 

A Memorial Mass will be offered at Saint Ann Catholic Parish on October 4th at 2:30 pm.  Those interested in praying the rosary are welcome to gather in the chapel at 2:00.

Her whimsical spirit and unique presence will be remembered by all those who knew her.
