Augustin Rodriguez, 72, brother, father and grandfather, passed away on July 16, 2024, at the age of 72. Born on August 17, 1951 in El Paso, Texas, he was the oldest of 4 siblings. He spent his youth in El Paso, playing football and leading his brothers into mischief, then graduating from Jefferson High School in 1970. He soon met the mother of his children, Elvie Serrano. They were married in 1972 and had their four daughters in El Paso, Monica (Powers) Michelle, Melissa (Whitley) and Marie (Reddick). Augustin, affectionately called Pug by friends and family, loved living life on the road, spending his career as a truck driver. His travels took him across the country and he knew every major highway and how best to get from here to there without a map or GPS. In 1986, Pug moved his family to Dallas-Fort Worth where he would call home, watch his children grow up and grandchildren be born. He became a Dallas sports team fan overnight - Go Mavericks, and the Dallas “Cowgirls” when they won. In addition to being a sports fanatic and reporting sports facts and news to everyone he knew, he participated in Taekwondo and earned his black belt on his 50th birthday! He is survived by his 4 boisterous siblings, Sonia, Ernest, Albert and Roy, his four loving daughters, and six adorning grandchildren, Jocelyn and Julianne Powers, Luke, Natalie, Lana and Selena Reddick. They will always remember his warmth, storytelling, humor and the countless memories shared, especially over breakfast. Augustin's legacy of kindness, laughter and the ability to eat a half gallon of Blue Bell vanilla ice cream in one sitting will be remembered by all he loved. In honor of his final wishes, Augustin’s celebration of life will be at Forest Ridge Funeral Home on Monday, July 22, 2024 from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. To honor his love of hard rock music please join us in wearing a rock band shirt to his celebration of life.
