Alfred Hewison Obituary

Evangelist Al D Hewison, Soul winner, Jesus follower, Bible Loving, Spirt-filled, Faithful man of God, Devoted husband , Loving Father and Precious Grandpa , went peacefully to Glory at 6:25 pm Thursday April 28,2022 sitting comfortably in his chair at home. He is now rejoicing with his Master , The Lord Jesus Christ and sweet Marlene. Alfred was born November 23, 1934 in Dayton, Ohio to his parents Frank M Hewison Sr and Catherine Gaver Hewison.

Al shared his life with the absolute love of his life beautiful Marlene Hewison for almost 66 blessed years . (  it was love at first sight ) They were joined together as one on May 26,1956 at The West Carrollton Assembly of God Church in Miamisburg, Ohio at the ages of 21 and 18.

Al loved Marlene as the scripture commands in Ephesians 5:25 “ Husbands love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her ,”

Al adored her , sought the highest good for her , surrounded her with a caring, unselfish and faithful love.

Al served in the United States Marine Corps from February 23,1954- February 22,1957 with training at Parris Island , Camp LeJeune, North Carolina with service in Korea. Al received the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal, even though he was a heavyweight boxer in the Corps. Al was honorably discharged on the 5th day of April, 1961 .

Al married his bride Marlene  while he was on leave , one day after she graduated from Fairview High School in Dayton, Ohio.

They went on to build their blessed and beautiful life together with the addition of three children, who love and miss their parents dearly . Al worked for the City of Dayton, and was called into ministry by The Holy Spirit. Al eagerly answered the call and eventually attended CBC Bible College in Springfield, Missouri, where he completed his ministry education. Al held the first revival after leaving CBC at Marshfield Assembly of God in Missouri February 5-12 1967 (?) God blessed , 11 souls were saved and 9 believers were filled! Praise God! Second revival at the First Assembly of God in Columbia Mississippi, March 22-April 2 . Wonderful meeting, How God Blessed ! 20 saved 6 filled ! All Glory to Almighty God!

I googled and both churches are still active, with the second church at the same address and same phone number. Later in Al’s service to the Lord , meetings would be scheduled for 1-2 weeks but would be extended to 3-4 weeks on several occasions! Simply because of the Move of God !

Rev. Al D Hewison had a passion for souls and walked in a tremendous anointing . He served the Lord as an evangelist/pastor for over 45 years … and never stopped serving him in his everyday walk, including grocery stores , automotive shops , restaurants, Walmart etc. Wherever he went he shared the love of Jesus and the Gospel every chance he got ! And had the testimonies  that bore much fruit.

Al and Marlene continued to serve The Lord together for their remainder of time on this earth . They were dearly loved and greatly appreciated during all their years of ministry.

Al also owned a successful Window Sales/ Installation Company, was skilled in plastering , and was for a time an honest and successful car salesman who was top in sales many times . Somewhere in the mix Al played Football for The Dayton Triangles, between 1959-1961.

Alfred D Hewison was a man of amazing faith and leaves behind a rare and incredible legacy. All were blessed who knew him and thankfully he remained humble though out his life . It was always All Glory to God ! And only two times to praise God ! When you feel like it and when you don’t ! Al longed to hear the words from his Savior and Master “ well done , good and faithful servant “ There is no doubt my Dad heard those words when he passed from this earthly life to his eternal life as soon as he arrived on April 28 and fell at Jesus feet ! Wow ! I can only imagine!

Al was preceded in death by his beautiful wife Marlene; his parents; brother Paul Michael ; sister Patty Jo; sister Connie; sister Carol Ann; and sister Martha.

Al is survived by his son Mark Hewison and wife Lana of Peoria, AZ; daughter Cindi Browning and husband Tony of Justin TX; daughter Machelle Dennis and husband Rocky of Colleyville TX; Eight grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; brother Frank M Hewison Jr and wife Lois of Seamon OH; sister Becky Frese and husband Greg of Elkton MD;  brother Joe Hewison and wife Cathy of Martinsburg WV; numerous nephews & nieces ; and many precious relatives and friends.

In closing my Dad’s prayer and ours is that you may “know” Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior…that you may experience His love , His grace, His peace and His joy each and every day … even into all of eternity.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
