Alfonso Ayvar Chavez, “Poncho” as his loved ones called him, was born in Guerrero, Mexico on December 11, 1971 to his father Alfonso Ayvar Abarca and Amalia Chavez Morales. Poncho got his nickname from his dad because he was a very big, chubby, and strong kid. He was the first grandchild on his dad side and was very loved and spoiled, to this day, all the uncles and aunts have a very special bond with him. They all considered him as one of their own children. Poncho grew up in Mexico and did his early studies there. He moved to the US with his dad at the age of 14. He worked with his dad in the early stage of his life but eventually stayed in the electrical field which he really enjoyed.
One thing you would automatically notice about Poncho is how kind, smart and playful he was. He enjoyed long and deep conversation with his family and friends. It didn’t matter the topic, Poncho always knew his stuff. He had a way to explain things that made you pay attention, you wanted to hear what he was going to say next because you knew you were about to learn something new. He was kind and non-judgmental. He would also joke a lot, he had a very playful personality. All the grandkids, nephews, and nieces know about Tío Poncho’s “dad” jokes. He had a calm demeanor and showed much respect for others. But the most noticeable thing, it was how deeply he cared for his family. He loved taking care of his family. Poncho enjoyed drinking a nice cold corona in the garage with his brother and adult children. He also enjoyed cooking, his specialty being fajitas and green spicy salsa. Alfonso was an incredible father, grandfather, uncle, son, brother and so much more. He loved to travel to his hometown in Mexico anytime he got the chance. Alfonso enjoyed working on his car, grilling and being surrounded by family.
He is survived by his children; Vilmar Ayvar, Itzayanna Ayvar and Fransheska Ayvar - his grandchildren; Raedynn, Nyjah, Micah, Xavier, Mundo and Aiden - by his siblings; Marlene Steele (Hugh), Isabel Romero (Carlos), Susie Armijo (Joseph) and Ivan Ayvar; and numerous other extended family members and loving friends.
